High Rise

High Rise is a strategic city-building board game designed by Gil Hova and published by Formal Ferret Games. In this game, players take on the roles of construction magnates competing to develop the most impressive skyline in a bustling city.

Gameplay Overview:

• Objective: Construct skyscrapers to earn victory points (VP). Each building's height contributes to your VP, with taller structures yielding more points.
• Action Mechanism: Players move along a one-way track, selecting spaces to perform actions such as collecting resources, constructing buildings, and repaying favours. The track's design means players can advance as far as they choose but must wait for others to complete their turns before proceeding.
• Corruption Mechanic: Players can gain bonuses by accumulating corruption, which allows for more powerful actions. However, excessive corruption leads to penalties, as the most corrupt players are periodically penalised, and all players lose VP for corruption at the end of the game.
• Tenants: The game features various tenants—corporations and government entities—that can occupy your buildings. Each tenant offers unique abilities, and players can acquire these powers by landing on their spaces or constructing buildings on their cards.

Game Components:

• Game Board: A one-way track representing the city's development zones.
• Cards: Blueprints for building construction, tenant cards with special abilities, and favour cards for additional actions.
• Materials: Tokens representing construction materials used to build skyscrapers.
• Player Pieces: Markers to track progress and resources.

Game Modes:

• Standard Game: Two rounds, suitable for 3-4 players, lasting approximately 90-120 minutes.
• Full Game: Three rounds, suitable for 3-4 players, lasting approximately 150-180 minutes.

Winning the Game:

After the designated number of rounds, players tally their VP from building heights, tenant abilities, and other bonuses. The player with the highest total VP wins the game.
