From comics and anime to video games, these are the characters who taught us to believe in our own strength. ​ Each generation grows up with its own heroes, but for many years most stories focused on male characters. Women were often pushed into supporting roles or portrayed only as allies to the main protagonists. And yet, they were always there: dynamic, courageous, and unforgettable. For many of us, these few women heroines were far more than just figures on a screen or a comic page; they were our first models of strength, independence, and confidence. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, it is worth remembering the heroines who inspired us and looking at how the worlds of comics, anime, and video games have evolved to give more and more space to female characters.
