The Atari 800XL

The RM 800XL, developed by the team at Revive Machines (Poland), is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Atari 800XL, adapted to today's technological needs.

This device retains the essential features of the original model, but incorporates advances that make it compatible with contemporary standards.

The design includes all of the original ports that allowed interaction with peripherals and accessories. The cartridge port remains functional and compatible with the connectors of the time, while the two classic 9-pin ports allow connection of traditional controllers. In addition, two USB ports have been added to use modern devices. The SIO (Serial Input/Output) port, characteristic of the Atari 800XL, remains intact and fully operational, as does the PBI (Parallel Bus Interface) parallel port, which allows connection of external hardware.

As for video outputs, the RM 800XL offers both classic and modern options. It retains the original monitor connector with audio and video signals, but also includes an HDMI port, which allows you to connect modern displays with high-resolution image quality. For external storage, it incorporates USB connectors and an SD card reader, facilitating access to programs and files without the need for cartridges.

The internals of the RM 800XL have been completely redesigned with modern technology. It runs on RISC processors and FPGAs, which emulate the behaviour of the original hardware with greater efficiency. All software has been developed in languages ​​such as C and HDL, ensuring stable performance that is faithful to the 1983 model.
