Gameplay Mechanics:

  • Turn Structure: Each turn represents two days of real-time action. The game employs an asymmetrical sequence of play, highlighting the rapid German advances and the Soviet responses.
  • Movement and Combat: Units move across the map, engaging in combat using a combination of dice rolls and card effects. The game emphasizes the importance of supply lines, unit cohesion, and strategic positioning.
  • Scenarios: Multiple scenarios are available, ranging from introductory to full campaign levels, allowing players to tailor the game's complexity and duration to their preferences.

Historical Context:

In June 1941, Army Group Center launched a swift and forceful attack through Soviet border defenses, with two Panzer groups racing toward Minsk. Behind them lay the remnants of the Soviet Western Front—almost a million men in four armies. The Soviets were stunned by the German Blitzkrieg, their responses slow and confused, governed by pre-war contingency plans made obsolete by the speed of the German advance. In little more than a week, the German panzer spearheads met east of Minsk.
