However, a dark shadow stretches over Arkham. Alien entities, known as "Ancients," lurk in the void beyond space and time, swirling at the boundaries between worlds. Secret rituals must be stopped, and the alien creatures destroyed before the Ancients turn the world into their ravaged dominion. Only a handful of investigators stand against the horror of Arkham. The Arkham Horror (Third Edition) is a cooperative board game for 1 to 6 players, where you take on the roles of investigators striving to rid the world of ancient beings known as "Ancients." Based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, players must gather clues, defeat terrifying monsters, and find tools and allies to have any hope of conquering the creatures that lie just beyond the veil of reality.

The game includes 12 investigators, each with unique abilities and customizable starting kits, allowing you to equip your investigator according to your play style. With 4 different scenarios, each game presents a new challenge as the investigators explore the streets of Arkham, confront monsters, and attempt to forestall impending doom.
