Το Ticket to Ride είναι ένα παιχνίδι στρατηγικής που απαιτεί σωστές αποφάσεις ανά πάσα στιγμή. Οι παίκτες συγκεντρώνουν κάρτες που αντιπροσωπεύουν βαγόνια από διάφορους τύπους τρένων και στη συνέχεια προσπαθούν να φτιάξουν σιδηροδρομικές γραμμές, ενώνοντας διάφορες περιοχές στο χάρτη. Όσο πιο μεγάλη είναι η διαδρομή ανάμεσα σε δύο σταθμούς, τόσο περισσότερους πόντους κερδίζουν.
Είναι ένα παιχνίδι εύκολο στην εκμάθηση, αλλά με αρκετό βάθος στη στρατηγική και απευθύνεται τόσο σε όλη την οικογένεια, όσο και σε πιο έμπειρους σε παιχνίδια στρατηγικής.
