Μπέρεν και Λούθιεν

The theme of "Beren and Lúthien" may seem simple: the desperate love between two young people.

However, in the hands of J.R.R. Tolkien, the love story of the mortal Beren and the immortal Lúthien transforms into a breathtaking myth. Lúthien's father, the king of the Elves, who opposes her relationship with Beren, assigns the daughter's beloved a tremendously difficult task. If he manages to complete it, then he may marry her.

The thrilling adventures of the two heroes will lead them to the northwest of Middle-earth, to the vast fortress of Angband, the Iron Hell, and will bring them face to face with the embodiment of evil: the fearsome Morgoth.

The story "Beren and Lúthien" was written by Tolkien in 1917 and remained unpublished until very recently.
